Books to be read . . .

What a great idea!! Thanks for inviting me to play!! I'm madly finishing my own book, but have Joshilyn Jackson's gods in Alabama, a new Nancy Cohen mystery, and Diana Gabaldon's new one in my own two-feet-tall TBR pile for my reward! What about you - what's in your TBR pile?

My TBR pile is pretty short right now: Stephanie Bond's WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE and Ann Patchett's BEL CANTO.

Once I get through with these looming deadlines, I'll add the Bombshell IT GIRL series to the list.

My TBR pile right now consists only of Rosalind Miles ISOLDE Queen of the Western Isle. Just finished the Guenevere Trilogy. You may have guessed I'm a sucker for anything King Arthur.

Ohmigosh, I can't believe there are actually writers with two or three books on their TBR piles. I have over 250 books TBR and still acquiring. Thing is, I have a book sickness. It's called "bookaholism" and my husband says I'd better get over it before the books take over the house!

Pat,like you, I'm a bookaholic (it's a genetic trait). I don't know how many books I have TBR, but I just keep on adding more! It's like having my own mini-library to pick and choose what I'm in the mood for, when I get a chance to read.

Of course, when I read sig lines on loops such as PASIC's or NINC's, I find even more books to add :-)

Hi all,
I'm trying to work through all the books I bought home from Reno. My TBR pile is huge! And they are still in the box I brought them home in!

Tracey--I know how big that box is . . . sounds like you've got some reading to do!

Which books are at the top of your list?

Earlier I forgot to post what's at the top of mine: Caridad Pineiro's latest Intimate Moment, also Stephanie Feagan's 2 Bombshells.

My TBR pile is huge. It's in my living room. Actually, it's taken over my living room. I have stacks on the sofa table, stacks on the end tables, stacks on top of the storage chest against the window.

I have stacks of books everywhere.

What I don't have is the time to read them all. lol.

I have Mt. TBR. Although maybe that isn't such a great description since it keeps growing! Wonder why? So many great books to read, so little time!

I am being forced to face my TBR, and admit it is out of hand. We are about to be invaded by men in tool belts, and I have to empty out all the bookshelves and box the books. ohboy. . .
It is amazing how few books fit into a box of a size to be lifted once it is filled.

My TBR pile is also a mountain most of which is boxed at the moment. I haven't read much lately with the move. I just finished Lie By Moonlight by Amanda Quick.

Hi All,

My name is Linda . . . and I'm a bookaholic. :-) My TBR pile is out of control. I add new books all the time and somehow they end up on top so the bottom books never get read. Sad, I know.

I'm reading a Karen Robards book I acquired in Reno. At the top of my list after that is Vanish a Tess Gerritson thriller.

Hi all,
I'm just testing this site.

I love being able to put my hands on a book wherever I am in the house, so I've got TBR piles in several places: nightstand, office, bookshelf, sitting room, kitchen... I've got an ereader for the car, too, for those appointments when I'm stuck in the waiting room.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a TBR mountain. We historical authors have a double wammy. There's always another research book crying out to be read. I recently started a monthly column for the Beau Monde (Regency chapter) newsletter where I review books on the Regency. I've already -- because I'm between book contracts -- written up eight month's worth!
I think most of us authors got into writing because we love to read, but I'd really like to know how some of you successfully manage to reduce those TBR piles. I'm the slowest reader in the world. Of course, being a disciplined writer, I only allow myself to read at the end of the day (night), then I quite often fall asleep, my face flattening against the pages of book.
I love Edna's quote, "So little time, so many books." Or is it the other way around?

I forgot to say that my husband is also a voracious reader. We have two bookcases in our bedroom, one on my side of the bed with tons of books TBR, one on his, with a smaller pile of books TBR. We have built in bookcases in the living room, one in the kitchen (filled with his cookbooks, he's a cookbook junkie), and three huge ones in my office, bursting at the seams, of course. I usually have several books going at once, not to mention all the magazines (I'm a People junkie!). I also have a personal relationship with the UPS man, who brings my most recent orders from Amazon, Doubleday book club, and B&N.com. It's truly a sickness!
